Why Go Trenchless?
Trenchless water line replacement services offer a number of benefits over traditional replacement via excavation. The biggest speaks for itself: by not having to dig a giant trench in your yard, you don’t have to spend the time and money remodeling your property once the job is finished. No replanting grass, no replacing torn-up concrete, and no replanting flowerbeds or gardens that may have been destroyed as a result of digging a giant trench. All you’ll need to worry about are a couple of small holes that often require very little work to restore.
Here are just a few of the other benefits of going trenchless:
- Time efficiency: Trenchless water line services are generally fast. Because they don’t require digging a giant trench, they can often be completed several hours or even days faster than traditional excavation projects.
- Budget-friendly: Without the time-consuming big dig, trenchless services cut back on labor costs. That can save you a bundle on your water line repair or replacement.
- Durability: New water lines installed by either method are built to last. In fact, it isn’t uncommon for these new lines to last 30 to 50 years or more!

How Trenchless Water Main Services Work
Trenchless water main services are a lot like trenchless sewer services, only for your potable water rather than collected sewage. There are two different methods for servicing a water line without digging a trench and removing the existing line: pipe lining and pipe bursting.
Pipe lining is the more common method for repairing a water line, as it’s suitable for fixing water lines that have sustained minor damage but are still largely intact. In this process, our technicians use a special tool to pull a resin-imbued liner through your existing water line. This liner is then inflated and allowed to cure, creating a water-tight lining that closes off any leaks, cracks, or gaps that may have caused your water line issues. Once the liner has cured, the newly sealed water line is reconnected to your home and your water source, restoring your water service.
This process is generally quick, taking no more than a couple of days to complete, and it is minimally invasive. For most repairs, our technicians only need to dig two small holes, one on each end of the water line that is going to be relined. This minimizes the repairs you have to do to restore your property once the job is finished.
Pipe bursting is not used quite as commonly, but it is far better for handling water lines that have degraded to the point where they no longer have the structural integrity to support pipe lining. In this process, our team attaches a specialized tool known as a bursting head to a powerful winch. That winch then pulls both the bursting head and a flexible replacement pipe through your old water line. Simultaneously, this process tears apart your old pipe where it lies while also pulling the replacement line into position. Once the new pipe is in place and the old line has been completely destroyed, the new pipe is connected to your plumbing system and your water source and is ready for use!
This process is also extremely fast and can often be done in as little as a day in some cases. Just like pipe lining, this process is also minimally invasive and often requires no more than just two small holes on both ends of the water line being replaced.
